Re: "The Canon Typestar 10-II electronic and thermal typewriter"
I've harmed my device due to incorrect voltage. I can't forgive myself..

@stack ... I'm not using the thermal paper everyday or making a mask against Covid from it ๐ thanks for the headsup
@ps I have the original AC adapter ... and 4 rechargeable Duracel R9 batteries for it.
Hope mine wont fry because of age ๐

Some people preemptively swap out electrolytic caps in old devices ... maybe worth a check.

I'd check but I don't know for what to check ๐ and how to replace also. Guess I could could find some repair shop that can do it but it's better (in my opinion) to leave it original
Hope it doesn't break because of age.

The two restoration tips for old electronics are a capacitor replacement and a battery replacement. The battery one is generally more urgent because those old NiCads are probably leaking all over the board. A typewriter is less likely to have one.
Re: BPA the key to limiting exposure from handling is to use as little skin contact as possible. Duration matters less than skin surface area in contact. It is also a larger concern for people working retail who are constantly handling receipts.

To be fair, the capacitor failure is fairly rare, and happens mostly with the huge caps in the old big power supplies. A thermal typewriter is not likely to need that, and indeed battery leakage is more of an issue, if it has any batteries.

@stack I don't think it has an internal battery. All settings - like margins, tabs etc. are deleted if you power off and power on the device even if it's plugged in or with the 4 huge R9 batteries inside ...

It's a beauty. Have fun with it!

Luna is adorable! I recently acquired a Brother EP22 and it is fantastic fun. The print is dot matrix and not as dark as yours, but I enjoy it. I've got a typed up page of thermal paper sitting right in front of the window. So far it's been about a month and I don't see any noticable fading. To be fair it is the autumn sun, but time will tell.

I got one of those when they first came out in 1985 or so. it was amazing.
Took it with me everywhere and remember sotting around hotel rooms writing page after page...

yes, I like to keep it on the darkest setting (#3) ... it's bolder and easier to read. Mine is as good as new, except for a few minor scratches. I used it only with thermal paper. I have a new sealed ribbon cassette but I don't want to open it ๐
