Getting a raspberry pi pico to connect to MQTT server has bested me. Resorting to simple TCP calls to an event proxy app written in Go. Now I just need to send “M01,24.5,50.4,994.3” temperature, humidity, and pressure sensor readings and the app does the MQTT home assistant stuff.

Tiny thermal printer is a lot of fun — My daughter just turned 8, and one of her birthday gifts was a tiny thermal printer - the kind that spits out little notes, stickers and Sudokus with no ink, just magic. Jailbreaked my Kindle — just wanted to say how much happy I am since I jailbreaked my kindle! Know that now amazon can't update my device without a warning and change everything for worse it's a nice thing! Also now I use KoReader and its allot more customizable, I already installed to my KoReader a plugin to being able to browse through Gemini capsules and also another plugin to being able to read manga online, this is gamechanging! I love own my own things.

did anyone successfully recover ssd that is not recognized by bios and os? i have nvme m.2 which stopped being recognized after in a backpack, my sleeping laptop woke up, exhausted battery, overheated and turned off. i was checking the drive with smartctl from time to time, last time about a month ago and it was perfectly okay. i am trying now power cycle method, but m.2 has no separate data and power cables, i isolated the longer part with paper and put it in its place, this way the laptop...

I had an idea the other day: I sometimes have to transfer files to heavily closed off Windows PCs (Corporate IT and whatnot) and that is a PITA. Why not connect a Arduino Pro micro to it that presents itself as a HID Keyboard, and then feed the arduino from my laptop with the data over serial. The arduino can open a CMD box, do a "copy con" and then type the extents of the file, do a Ctrl-Z, and there you are. Also sending a binary as base64 and then using the Windows built-in base64 decoder...

Dot matrix printers: Does anyone else use a dot matrix printer under Linux (maybe Debian). Would like to buy a used one and would be interested in recommendations. E.g. specifically which drivers work / out of the box too. I need the printer for an experimental art project ( digital drypoint etching). Thanks in advance and sorry für Crossposting from Station

I am looking for a self-contained programming environment on a microcontroller (ESP32 or similar) with a small touch screen, for kids to learn coding, without the need to have a PC or tablet. Nothing too esoteric or low level. I was wondering if such a thing exists or if I need to build it myself.
