Multiple posts in a sub — Keeping a clean feed is definitely a priority, and when there are several posts in a sub, BBS shows one, with a note that there are more posts. I think it may be better, when multiple posts are present, just to show the titles/links, one per line. If there are more than say 5, an ellipsis/notice of other posts as a link? I think it would be a better user experience. I know that I probably miss some interesting things because they are buried, and it encourages…

Should there be a feature to allow users to post without a certificate? This relates directly to my previous post, where I have issues with the profileabillity of what I say here. Not having a username attached to posts should make it harder to connect them, and thus profile the users behind said posts. I know this might make it harder to moderate the site and mass delete spammers, but I think it’s worth it as I didn’t see that many bad actors since I started visiting this place. There can even…

Bubble v11.0 — This is a small feature update with a couple of useful additions. Automatic Comment Order There is a new option for sorting comments in discussion threads: "⇅ Automatic" chooses the sort order based on which order is used in the post feed. When using the default chronological post order, threads display also chronologically in natural reading order. However, when using the Activity or Hotness sorting modes, comments are displayed newest-first. I've been using this myself with…

Currently running Bubble v10.3 here on BBS. You may notice some changes in the presentation of entries in All Posts and subspaces pages. Putting the subspace and the poster on the same line was feeling too busy for my taste, so I'm trying a two-link approach instead, with one link to the subspace and another to the poster. It should make it very clear who wrote each post. It also puts more whitespace between entries, which is a bonus for readability. I've also been fixing some bugs related to…

Bubble v10.0 — Confirming Notification Email Addresses It is now mandatory to confirm that an email address works before Bubble will send notifications to it. Previously, one could have entered any address, with typos or intentional malice, and the system would happily spam the address indefinitely. The confirmation process is very simple: when you set the notification email address, Bubble sends a confirmation message with a link back to the Bubble instance. Opening the link marks the…

I just created my first subspace s/cli. I'm trying to figure out how to create a pole to vote? Help talks about poles but can't find how to actually set one up. Is there a help section for this or can someone point me in the right direction please? Thanks

Keeping a post out of the feed prevents other posts in sub from showing in the feed — Don't know if it's the intended functionality. In s/SpellBinding, I made a post and wanted to keep it out of the feed, for reasons... However, a different post by another user is not showing in the feed either.

Unable to delete draft replies to deleted threads — I have an old draft reply to a thread which has since been deleted. I cannot delete the draft because trying to go to the draft gives a certificate prompt with "Locked comment" as the message.

About email notifications — In my self-hosted bubble I have a likely issue with email notifications, where I don't receive them, BUT if I trigger some post/like/thanks whatever, on purpose, I do receive them. sendmail is working, I'm not in sleep hours, the subspace is followed - this user also happens to be the instance's admin; the only thing I have set up is an auto reload of dashboard page with Lagrange (so that I actually notice new messages when opening the tab): can this influence in...

Editor Improvement Idea — When editing, there are two links next to each other: one to split/move paragraphs, and another to replace text. I often find myself typing in a bunch then trying to split into paragraphs, but clicking on replace and entering 'S', resulting in my entire post turning into a single 'S" An easy fix would be to not allow a single S to replace existing text. I don't think anyone in real life wants to replace a lot of typed in text with an S.

Thank-you notifications — Is it me, or do these not go away sometimes after you see them? I have not tried to catch it in the act, but I often find myself noticing that I still have some notifications after viewing all, and invariably there is a thank-you or two.

link to thread - other than comments alone — Wouldn't it be smarter to have a link to the actual thread (OP), instead of (or in addition to) every comments' link in our notifications pages? If I want to follow the convo, I'm starting from the beginning and follow down.

case sensitivity in subspace names so some of us create subspaces by using first letter as uppercase, i prefer lowercase always (or almost always) so the subspaces opened by me have lowercase names. will bubble prevent opening /s/something if /s/Something exists? should it? should bubble use uniformity, convert all to lowercase? i guess no, because the subspace name can contain some abbreviations? like MRI_stories. (sorry first that came up). i just wonder what people think about it.

when people mention people with @ character, do they get notified? is that handled or ignored by the software? so is that just a cultural thing people do or it has a sense?

stream shutdown error — 2025-12-09 23:04:21 [0] -- Problem: [('SSL routines', '', 'packet length too long'), ('SSL routines', '', 'record layer failure')] stream shutdown error: [('SSL routines', '', 'shutdown while in init')] How comes logs have no remote IP address? I don't have any other clue on why/how this is happening.

Feature request: Sort indexed comments/posts by datetime I'd like to sort my indexed comments (and posts) by date and time so I can pick up where I left off without having to search. If that's already a feature then I apologize, I haven't been able to find it yet.

Suggestion: Treat notifications for new threads differently — When I go to my notifications to look at a new thread, what I'll do is open the "user posted" notification and then scroll the page to see its comments. But that doesn't mark the notifications for comments in those posts as read, so I have to either open them manually or clear all. I'd like it if when I open a new post notification, all of its comments are also marked as read with it.

need for password — I'm working on >something< and I was searching through some older posts, found two interesting pieces: [gemini link] Everything's simple until it aren't /u/skyjake/5261 "add alternative cert" AFAIU, this functionality in Bubble is to add additional cert while signing off with current user cert. So my question, likely to @skyjake is: is there any reason _NOT_ to allow user to manually add cert via fingerprint? I'm asking as I'm planning something along the lines and am...

Expiring drafts — In Bubble v9.10, I've added a convenience feature that deletes empty drafts after one hour. An empty draft is one that is untitled and has no content segments of any kind. This is now up and running on BBS, so let me know if something seems broken.

return code: 21 — Hello, I'm getting "Verify return code: 21 (unable to verify the first certificate)" when using openssl to my bubble instance and, while I can connect just fine, a friend cannot. Is that the issue? How am I supposed to fix it? I tried fullchain.pem, a chained pem but always end up in the same error. I'm using let's encrypt. Thanks
