Re: "link to thread - other than comments alone"
That is true. When There are multiple notifications about posts in the same thread, it gets weird -- I click on a notification, then read other comments, then go back to see notifications about comments I already read!
If there are multiple new comments, I would prefer to have a single link to the entire thread, wouldn't you?

I agree, as a relatively new user, I was confused when I clicked a notification for a reply, but landed on a page where I couldn't see the other replies, which I also had notifications for!

I've been using BBS since inception, and I am still hazy about where to click for the thread, and often wind up in u/poster instead. I think there are a couple of places where the thread link and the poster u link are similar. But i am too lazy ro figure it out.

+1 coming back to BBS after a while, I get a lot of notifications, most of them are a single thread and it's hard to find the link to the OP so I can just read the comments in sequence

I agree the multiple notifications about a discussion thread are not ideal. I am thinking of grouping them somehow into one, although that requires some nontrivial changes. (In practice, opening such a grouped link would need to dismiss a set of notifications.)
Generally speaking, I prefer that you don't miss a notification, so auto-dismissing too many is risky. The server has no way of knowing if you actually read through the entire discussion thread you were notified of.
The current notifications about a discussion are sorted reverse-chronologically, which may be a bit confusing. You need to open the bottommost one to see all the new comments on one page.

If you open the bottommost notification (to see the entire thread), you will still continue receiving notifications for the remaining replies, ones you've already seen... So yeah, it would be ideal to match all viewed replies to their notifications...
And I see how it is a little dangerous -- but it is really annoying to deal with a dozen notifications in an active thread. Your only real option is to clear all notifications, but when there are large groups of notifications from multiple threads it is not a great solution either

what stack said.

Have you noticed there is a Clear action on the thread page that you can use to clear all notifications about that particular thread?
The usability is subpar, admittedly, but that is the compromise available at the moment.

honestly, nope. I cannot find it..

I just saw it, while reading my backlog. It's better than nothing ๐

I have another wonderful idea! :)
When clearing the remaining notifications in a thread (link at the bottom), why aren't we redirected to bubble's homepage or even better to the our dashboard?

link to thread - other than comments alone โ Wouldn't it be smarter to have a link to the actual thread (OP), instead of (or in addition to) every comments' link in our notifications pages? If I want to follow the convo, I'm starting from the beginning and follow down.
