The Chronicle of Beelzebub - Halfway There — It feels a little surreal to write this now that my Astrobotany plant named Beelzebub is 333 days old. We're halfway there. Another 333 days to go and take that screenshot [gemini link]
Could you help me understand the nuance of this English phrase? — I was watching this video to practice my English listening skills. Around the middle of the video, there's a part where someone says, "Yeah. But the bottom bunk...pretty—" and then follows up with "pretty often" while laughing. My guess is that they are laughing because they stumbled over their words and felt a bit embarrassed. Is that correct? YouTube ID: k0Hdqiqaqnw [https link] I’ve also made a transcription of this, so…
Solenne Aeris — Solenne is one of the many members of Aetherine group of angelic like beings who are philosophical, compassionate and also wants humans to read their philosophical book called “genderless beauty” and how humans should move on from rigid and outdated gender roles/stereotypes. And their philosophy is also called “Aetherism” which is also a sub philosophy of my “Feminist Androgyny” philosophy because why not.

RSS or Atom? — What kind of feeds do y'all publish for your HTTP websites? I know that Gemini typically uses lists of links as feeds instead of dedicated feed formats, but I want to publish a dedicated feed for HTTP viewers of my blog. I'd like users to be able to read my blog's feed with the same tools that they consume their other HTTP-space feeds with, and not all tools support Gemini feeds natively. I currently have an Atom feed set up, but I wonder if it's well-supported nowadays?

I feel like I'm leaving a week long anxiety crisis. I wish I had done it sooner, but unfortunately I wasn't able to apply any tricks.
There is something to be said about slowing down, not only in online interactions and community, but in life in general. Fluff starts to disappear, meaning and substance start rising to the top, and what once felt like bombardment, begins to feel like clarity.

I thought it was time for some people to care about the next step, so I added a Japanese page to set up GmCapsule and use CGI. [gemini link] Maybe I also think I need to make this an English page. Not many people have experience CGI on the web. Technology in the 1990s? It was the era of using shells and Perl. It would be nice if more people could come into contact with CGI, but it would be more difficult to build servers and certificates. Hmm...

OK, I’ve got a question for you. When addressing a foreigner by name, what is your mental calculus to decide whether or not to address formally (i.e. with -san) or not (i.e. “throw it away”)?

Silence — It's been a while since I last wrote. In the meantime, I took a journey into silence – a nice silence, which helped me better understand what's worth continuing to do: removing what I don't need. There was too much noise, really. The "cleaning" had already begun, but now I'm finishing it. It seems like I'm rambling, but actually I just really want to simplify as much as possible. — Captain tty, aboard the vessel Rawbit

Hi. I’d love to hear from anyone who has experience as a moderator (even outside of this BBS), or if you have friends who are mods—what kind of things do you keep in mind? In Japan, "moderator" usually brings to mind people on YouTube Live, Twitch, or Wiki sites. Is it the same overseas? I’d appreciate any insights you can share. Thanks!

Symbol Or Emoji? — The following line should alternate between the biohazard symbol and the biohazard emoji. ☣☣️☣☣️☣☣️☣☣️☣☣️☣☣️☣☣️☣☣️☣☣️☣☣️☣☣️☣☣️☣☣️☣☣️☣☣️ What do you see? Thanks to @SavaRocks ascii chess board and some prompting from @sy, I managed to get Alhena to honor the symbol variation selector. If you build from the latest source, you can see what I mean. Other Gemini clients on my system display only the symbol or only the emoji. Amfora starts out with the symbol but switches to the…

An uncomfortable truth — The flutter of creativity comes from the most unexpected places. For how long have I been forcing it to emerge from a regimen of exercise, sleep, meditation and a lack of surprises? Only after I've fallen off the wagon I feel this tingling sensation, as if I'm boarding a flight to my birthplace, to which I'd left as an infant and forgotten about. It is truly a great mistery. Ego really is a boundless maze. The way out of it is neither straight nor meandering. Is it to…

Binaural editor/player recommendation? I tried java version of Gnaural, the editor works fine. I can export wav file for play back. But I think the project is long dead and the audio stack of OpenBSD has changed too much that the in-app play back no longer work (OpenBSD's java port is stucked at version 17). Binaural audio is normally played as a background noise so.. a five hour long wav file weights a few gig therefore in-app play back in highly desired.
