RSS or Atom? — What kind of feeds do y'all publish for your HTTP websites? I know that Gemini typically uses lists of links as feeds instead of dedicated feed formats, but I want to publish a dedicated feed for HTTP viewers of my blog. I'd like users to be able to read my blog's feed with the same tools that they consume their other HTTP-space feeds with, and not all tools support Gemini feeds natively. I currently have an Atom feed set up, but I wonder if it's well-supported nowadays?

This is my first poll post on this BBS. Especially for those who don't know Japanese. Do you want a subspace where you can post about Japan in English, separate from s/日本 ?

Spam in Geminispace? — For those people who run a service in Geminispace where users can submit content, did you receive any spam or other abuse? If you want, you can add details in the comments. I'm aware that not many people are able to answer, but maybe you can point those people to this poll, if you like to. Thanks.

Do you use a reverse proxy? — Using a reverse proxy is kinda the default for the "normal" web, but what about gemini? on one hand, you probably don't need it right now with the current community size (and how nice people seem to behave). on the other hand, I don't want to blindly trust the internet to not be mean to server infrastructure and I'm not sure if every gemini server out there has protection mechanisms like basic rate-limiting.

Markdown and Gemini — On a previous post, I suggested having browsers support markdown rendering. There's some discussion there, but I decided to create a new post for this to centralize discussion. I don't think the goal should be to replace gemtext—gemtext is a fine format for lots of things. I just think it would be a bit nice to have a few more features. Gemtext feels overly limiting at times and I honestly don't really like hacks like writing italics like /this/ and bold like *this*. Or...

Geminauts and their Operative Systems — I'm wondering what operative systems are used by geminauts (desktop/laptop devices, not mobile ones). May be this poll has more options than geminauts xD.

Linux question... — Please, can anyone provide me with the following information: Is there anything in existence like a list of laptops (ideally) or desktops that have perfect compatibility with linux distributions. I am considering getting a new PC without windows, such that I can install linux myself. Probably a KDE distro, or perhaps GNU. I have never done this before and have limited experience with linux - enough to know I would be fine to use it for basic purposes. The main motivation...

Do you browse the Geminispace with a GUI, TUI, or CLI client? — CLI = run in terminal with parameters to load a single page and immediately and automatically exit upon output, TUI = run in terminal once to load and navigate many pages in succession

Gemini Age Survey — As this came up in another thread [gemini link] let's try a small age survey for fun to see, how old the current user group of Gemini and this BBS is. So if you know someone who uses Gemini but isn't aware of this BBS, let that person know so they can take part!

Titan Post Edit Workflow — How do you currently draft and edit posts via titan? Here's my current workflow using the amfora client: Edit First Draft Using Titan This is pretty straightforward. In the .config.toml for amfora, I have a handler for titan urls. It looks something like this: `titan = ['/path/to/titan-edit-wrapper.sh']` I click the "Add long text" link in the draft page: titan://bbs.geminispace.org/edit/99999/add-text This is the only time I actually follow a titan link through...

I am toying with the idea of creating a software store in gemini. (pay and download binaries kind of workflow) My idea is to port what I have here: to a text based experience. I think it is possible. I believe it would be the first of its kind as well.

Gemini trademark conflict — Anyone else notice that Google is using the Gemini branding for their AI crap? It's taking over the search results for gemini. Getting harder and harder to find things Gemini-related without stumbling over Google's AI rubbish. What should Gemini do?

— List of regions of the United States

American Geminauts: what region of the United States do you live in? It would be fun to meet some people in real life who share this hobby, but I don't know if there are very many of us here in the Midwest. (I realize the term "region of the US" is somewhat loosely defined, so to make the poll unambiguous, I'm using regions as defined by the Bureau of Economic Analysis, which can...

A small non-functional browser — I've been coding a small 'browser' from scratch these days. The idea was to keep dependencies at minimum. So, I would use raw sockets to do everything and use raylib to render it. In the end I gave up understanding how open_ssl cryptography worked from specification and ended up just calling openssl and including it as dependency. it can handle [http link] [https link] (both on text mode) and did I say it can also display gemini capsules if given a [gemini link]...
